Fishing Report August 18th 2025
Joseph all the way from Alabama with a great Muskegon River smallmouth.
Smallmouth fishing has continued to be steady. We have received some much needed rain last week that freshened things up. Lately, fishing on the bottom low and slow has been the name of the game. Crayfish in olive or cinnamon colors have produced well in the rocky areas. Along with hellgrammites and small grubs in black and olive bounced through the deeper runs have had their moments.
Its hard to believe we are nearing the end of smallmouth season and will be shifting gears to our fall migratory king salmon and steelhead in a couple weeks. It has been a great summer on the river, but I am looking forward to the cooler days of fall chasing kings with 30lb braid and thundersticks!
I still have a couple days available this fall weather your a salmon, steelhead or trout angler. It would be a pleasure to have you on the river. Check back soon for a full fall update on what’s to come in the coming months!
