Fishing Report July 6th 2025
Connie with a great smallmouth bass on the Muskegon River that took a popper.
We have fully switched over to smallmouth bass fishing for the remainder of the summer at Tailwater Charters. With water temps in the low 70s and air temps in the high 80s-low 90s we have been focusing on our smallmouth bass fishery here on the Muskegon. We have had some phenomenal topwater fishing the past few weeks with many bass coming to a popper or gurgler especially in the morning hours. When the topwater bite dies, fishing streamers or crayfish have been paying off. Topwater flies and streamers in chartreuse, yellow, pink and tan/cinnamon have been getting most of the attention. Same goes for fishing spinning gear, although their have been a couple days were all they want is something ned rigged on bottom.
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Its hard to believe we are already in the middle of summer. I still have a couple days open on the calendar for bass fishing the remainder of July and August. The books are open for fall salmon and steelhead fishing! It would be a pleasure to have you on the water! Have a great week! -Capt. Ross
