Fishing Report July 6th 2026
Victoria with an awesome smallmouth that inhaled a popper the other morning!
It has been a busy summer on the river! We are in full smallmouth bass mode and cant beat being on the river in flip flops and shorts! Trout fishing lingered around with cooler than normal temps giving us some great trout opportunities, especially stripping streamers on the fly rod, and pitching crankbaits.
Water levels are at a normal level on the Muskegon (1600cfs). We are picking up smallmouth with topwater flys/baits in the morning hours/cloudy days. Throughout the past couple weeks, streamers, crayfish, crankbaits and ned-rigging soft plastics have all had there time to shine depending on the day.
If you’re looking to get out on the river yet this summer, we still have a couple days available in July and August. It would be a pleasure to have you aboard. In addition, its never too early to start thinking fall salmon and steelhead. Our fall season will be here before we know it.
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July Holiday. See you on the river! - Capt. Ross
Smallies in the morning hours looking for frogs on the surface.
Pat with a great brown trout that took a streamer on a nice afternoon the other week (pre-heatwave) .
