Fishing Report May 4th 2026
Greg with an early morning buck!
Fishing on the Muskegon is in a “mix bag” state right now. There is a mix bag of fishing opportunities, with steelhead fishing starting to slow down and trout fishing is heating up. We have also found a few smallmouth bass as by-catch. With the warmer weather and recent bout of high water, things seem to be a little bit ahead of schedule compared to recent years. Salmon fry, egg patterns in light yellows and oranges, caddis nymphs , egg sucking leeches, streamers and crank baits have all had their moments the past couple weeks.
There is lots of trout fishing to come. I still have a couple days available in May and June if you would like to get out and enjoy the river!
See you on the water - Capt. Ross
